Yeah I may have been a bit hyperbolic in that statement 0 I had just smoked a J of Amnesia Haze so I wasn't in my best state of mind when I wrote that. I should have specified those are 2 of my fav Garcia/Hunter love songs. Plus they're both kinda jaunty and upbeat so I lumped them together. Ummm but I disagree with u about the best songs being written 1970-1973. I love all the new songs everyone wrote during 1974-1975 just as much. All those Garcia/Hunter tunes are sick.

Anyways anyone recommendation for a SICK post-1976 TLEO? Like I said I still haven't heard one that rivals the solo Jerry plays on 5/8/77 - that TLEO solo never gets old.

I listened to 5/8/77 twice and found the solo to be dull, and would assume it could be equaled in all versions that are not flat out bad.I would appreciate you pointing out what is so "sick" about this best ever solo.

I did't say BEST or that those are the only those years,in fact Althea is one of my all time favorite tunes. I was mainly referencing songs like Ripple, Brokedown Palace, etc as being a VERY prolific rich time for the bands songwriting and if you watch that anthem to beauty documentary Hunter pretty much says exactly that. But trust me there are lots of great songs that came after.
